Pilates and Physical Therapy Classes at Tonal Rehabilitation & Pilates LLC
- Apparatus class (all apparatus) - Apparatus class consists of gentle and core-focused body movement patterns to address the upper and lower extremity of muscle groups. It can improve your joint mobility and core stability. During the apparatus class, participants perform a sequence of body movements at their own pace listening to the instructor's advice. The instructor leads a class using both verbal and direct hands-on cues in a fun, focused atmosphere. Reclined, seating and standing positions are involved throughout the sequence. Apparatus Pilate equipment for classes include reformers, jump boards, trapeze tables, springboards and ped-o-pulls.
- Mat class - This class focuses on the development of accurate movement patterns by lengthening and strengthening postural muscle groups. The class consists of exercises performed on the mat utilizing props and progressing through all muscle groups. The major emphasis is on stability and strengthening of muscles and body lengthening. The class concludes with a meditative relaxation to rejuvenate the mind and body.
- Foundation class (mat and reformer) - This class involves a core set of Pilates exercises performed on both reformer and mat in supine, seated, side-lying, quadruped and prone positions. This builds the base-level skills for beginners and lay a foundation for intermediates.
- Small group class (all apparatus) - Prior to joining the Small Group class, there will be a fitness assessment performed by a Polestar Pilates Graduate. The assessment will help the instructor to custom design a tailored Pilates program for each participant to meet his or her goals as well. Our therapist appropriately takes the medical or rehab history of participants. The class also will not exceed the size of five people so that the instructor can give keen attention to each person.
